Phoenix loureirii

Commonly used to make a leafy broom in the southern part of India, and for thatching. This is a dwarf palm found in dry areas. The fruits are edible and the larvae found in the base of the roots are a special delicacy for the adivasis in central India. Leaves are woven to make mats and bags.
