Shorea robusta

A large resinous Dipterocarp is widespread in central and eastern India. It is both a commercially and culturally important tree. The wood is used for timber, leaves for making leaf cups and seed is commercially collected. Small branches also used as fuelwood. Resin is used as incense for all religious ceremonies and sold commercially as ‘guggal’.
