Aasra Manch

Aasara Manch is an organization founded by a group of dedicated women in 2008 in the
Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. It was established to address important issues like forest
conservation; improving girl childrens education; and raising the awareness about maternal
health, especially encouraging institutional deliveries to reduce infant mortality. In 2010,
the organization was officially registered and began working actively to bring positive
change in the community.
The organization aims to empower women and girls by promoting their rights, providing
education, and supporting victims of violence. Aasara Manch also focuses on
environmental protection, helping local communities safeguard their forests, and ensuring
maternal health awareness.
The organization works in 20 villages in the district and has helped has enrolled 300 girls
in school who had dropped out. The Manch has ensured forest rights claims under the
Forest Rights Act, 2006, for several panchayats, contributing to a brighter future for the
region. Additionally, the Manch has provided legal assistance to 35 women and supported
environmental conservation through active community involvement.
