Policy – Law and Advocacy

There are a gamut of national and state policies that affect NTFPs, Adivasi rights and Forests as a whole. The network will address the following:
1. Application and Implementation of relevant laws for the benefit of conservation and adivasi rights (eg. FRA, PESA)
2. Simplifying laws for the community and building their capacity with increased legal literacy
3. Lobby for state, regional and national policies which are in conflict
4. Promote ecological zones like Eastern and Western Ghats for special conservation status
5. Build understanding and dialogue for conflicting laws on a case to case basis
6. Gather information and lobby against diversion of forests/adivasi lands to industry, mining, SEZ, dams, biofuel, etc
7. Form a panel which can be present in key forums, discussion panels and meetings at state and national level and put forward the views of the EP
