Save Similipal campaign getting shriller!
Efforts to conserve the forest and wildlife of Similipal Biosphere Reserve are getting stronger every day. The meeting of Similipal Peoples’ Parliament on 5th October has decided to organize cluster level meetings around the Similipal landscape. Subsequently, a cluster-level meeting of the Talpokhari cluster – in which 18 villages come together due to their socio-cultural similarities – was organized in Dambarujharan on 4th Nov 2015 where it was decided to guard Similipal from illicit tree felling, hunting and poaching. In addition to this the meeting helped develop a mechanism to resolve conflicts arising between villages due to forest use. They also intend to accelerate the CFR claim submissions for all the villages in the cluster under Forest Rights Act.
